Dead Air Armament is adding the Primal, a new .46-caliber magnum rated suppressor to their lineup of firearms sound suppressors. The Primal is a multi-purpose .46-caliber “rifle-centric” suppressor that is optimized for larger cartridges such as the .458 SOCOM, .45-70 Gov't. and .450 Bushmaster, yet still be versatile enough to be used effectively on sub-caliber handguns.

“One challenge to creating a multi-purpose suppressor that does everything well, is the balance of weight, strength, and sound suppression.  We call the Primal “rifle centric” because the strength and weight balance is leaning towards rifle level performance but don't hesitate to put this on your favorite pistol. This thing will eat up anything you throw at it,” said Mike Pappas, the founder of Dead Air Silencers.

The Primal is rated to handle the extreme pressures produced by large magnum cartridge like .338 Lapua, but at only 16.5 ounces in weight, it’s surprisingly lightweight for something that is designed to tame some of the most powerful cartridges around. A true multi-purpose suppressor, the Primal can also accept a SD500 booster assembly, which makes it usable as a handgun silencer and can also be configured to mount with direct thread, KeyMo, Xeno, or 3-lug mounting system.

The Primal is constructed from 17-4 Stainless Steel for a high strength to weight ratio, low maintenance, and stress free experience.  The body of the suppressor is coated with a high heat Cerakote finish with a mount/end cap which has a Nitride treatment for lifelong durability.
