CzechPoint VZ 58 Pistol

CzechPoint is expanding its product catalog to include large-format pistols based on the Czech vz 58, chambered in the classic 7.62x39mm cartridge in addition to the 5.56 NATO round.

The new CzechPoint vz 58 large-format pistols are manufactured in the Czech Republic by CSA (Czech Small Arms) in Jablunka, Czech Republic. Every part found on these firearms is 100-percent new production: These firearms do not use any used or surplus components. Regardless of caliber, these new pistols are built around 7.5- or 12-inch chrome-lined Walther-Lothar cold-hammer-forged barrels.

In addition to this, these pistols ship with new production smoky translucent polymer magazines compared to the classic aluminum alloy magazines that were issued with the Czechoslovakian originals. Customers also have the option of purchasing these vz 58 pistols with extra buffer tubes and pistol-stabilizing braces.

CzechPoint’s vz 58 large-format pistols are based on the original Czechoslovakian-designed vz 58 service rifles, which date to communist-era Czechoslovakia during the Cold War. The vz 58 is unique in terms of Eastern-bloc military firearms. While it fires the same Soviet designed 7.62x39mm cartridge that the AK-47, AKM and similar guns use, the vz 58 works on a different action than those guns. Most AKs have switched from milled to stamped receivers and all of them use a long-stroke pistol to cycle the action. AK-pattern guns also have no bolt-hold open mechanism. On the other hand, the vz 58 pattern action uses a short-stroke gas system built on a milled receiver and even includes a bolt-hold open mechanism by default. The Soviets and the rest of the Eastern bloc nations took one approach, and the Czechs went in a different direction.

Retail pricing for CzechPoint’s new vz 58 large format pistols starts at $1,860 for models without a stabilizing brace. To learn more about these new firearms and other products that CzechPoint imports from central Europe, visit czechpoint-usa.com.
