Aero Precision Handguards

Aero Precision just announced the latest product in the Aero Precision Pro Series modular M-Lok handguards for AR-15 pattern firearms: the new Aero Precision Minimal Optical Deflection (MOD) 4 handguard.

Some of the more modern M-Lok handguards on the market are on the thinner side, and may not be stiff enough to handle the weight of a modern laser/infrared aiming modules and other accessories. The weight of the unit on the other end of the handguard can be enough to put a slight bend on the handguard and thus throw off the zero of the corresponding IR or laser beam. Aero Precision aims to solve this problem with the new MOD 4 M-Lok handguard, which are reinforced and optimized to prevent optical deflection.

Aero Precision MOD 4 rails are available in popular lengths that correspond to the barrel sizes favored by today’s shooters; available lengths range from 10.6 inches all the way to a full 15 inches for carbines with 16- to 20-inch barrels. The handguards themselves are machined from 6061 grade aluminum and available in anodized black, green or kodiak brown. As part of Aero Precision’s Pro Series, MOD 4 M-Lok handguards are compatible with Aero Precision M4E1 threaded upper receivers and other Pro Series products. MOD 4 rails have a seven-sided M-Lok cross-section and a full length of Picatinny rail at the very top.

Aero Precision MOD 4 Specifications:

  • Material: 6061 T6 Aluminum
  • Barrel Nut: Steel
  • M-Lok Surfaces: On seven sides
  • Picatinny Rails: Top
  • QD Sockets: Two pairs of reinforced sockets on either side, front and rear of handguard
  • Internal Diameter: 1.2 inches, requires a low-profile gas block
