The latest donation from Apex Tactical Specialties of $15,000 to Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) raises the Arizona-based company’s total contribution to the non-profit organization to $150,000. The funds are generated through the sale of the company’s Thin Blue Line Series of triggers.

“A line-of-duty death is the worst fear of a law enforcement family, but support from companies like Apex Tactical Specialties helps remind survivors that they will never be alone and their blue family is here,” said Dianne Bernhard, executive director of C.O.P.S. “The Thin Blue Line trigger serves as a daily reminder to officers that they are part of something much bigger and their service is beyond appreciated.”

Apex began offering its Thin Blue Line Series of products in October 2016 for the sole purpose of raising money to support the various programs administered by C.O.P.S.—whose mission is to rebuild the shattered lives of the survivors who have lost a loved one in the line of duty. Twenty-five present of the sale of each Thin Blue Line Series product is donated to that cause.

C.O.P.S. formed in 1984 with 110 members. Today, its membership has grown to more than 48,000 survivors that include spouses, children, other family members, significant others and co-workers. The organization’s programs include National Police Week (held in May), C.O.P.S. Kids counseling reimbursement, peer support, C.O.P.S. Kids Summer Camp, an Outward Bound experience for teens, retreats for spouses, parents, siblings, adult children and extended family, and many others that otherwise may not be readily available.

Randy Lee, president of Apex Tactical Specialties, brings more than 25 years of firearm experience and a degree in engineering to the company’s products, which include a full line of triggers and a variety of aftermarket products tailored for competitors, law enforcement and self-defense.
