Springfield Armory recently released its newest handgun, the Emissary 1911, which combines elements from defensive and custom-grade pistols to deliver a bold, capable new offering to the company's stable of 1911s.

The Emissary is built with a forged steel barrel, slide and frame, as well as a two-tone finish and blued carbon steel slide to give it a refined look. The squared trigger guard compliments the overall look, as does a Tri-Top cut slide. A bull barrel delivers maximum accuracy and helps to reduce felt recoil.

The new Emissary is available in .45 ACP and comes with a 5-inch, match grade barrel and 1:16-inch twist. The pistol ships with Tritium front sight and Tactical Rack U-notch rear sight. The VZ Grips Thin-Line G10 grips add a stylish touch to a handgun weighing 40 ounces overall. The Emissary ships with two eight-round magazines and comes with an MSRP of $1,279.
