First Look: SIG Sauer 716i Tread AR-10 Pattern Rifle

posted on April 1, 2020

New from SIG Sauer is the 716i Tread AR-10 pattern rifle, which combines the reliability of SIG's lightweight direct impingement system with the customization and features of the SIG Sauer Tread line of rifles. Chambered in .308 Win./7.62 NATO and using standard AR-10 magazines, the 716i is a full-featured AR-pattern rifle that extends your reach with the power of .308 Win.

SIG has taken the proven features of the SIG516 rifle and applied them to the potent 7.62 NATO round. The 716i Tread features a direct impingement operating system, along with an M1913 Mil-Std rail, a free-floating barrel, an aluminum forend with multiple M-Lok slots and a six-position Magpul telescoping stock. Skills Check: Present Arms

We refer to the draw stroke as the presentation at Gunsite. It’s a better explanation than simply “drawing” the pistol, because it describes the act of presenting the pistol from the holster to the target or threat. In our “basic,” five-day pistol class we expect students to present the pistol and make hits on targets from 3 to 7 yards away in 1.5 seconds. Most students can do this in two or three days of training.
