Ruger unveiled its new Ruger-57 pistol to the surprise and amazement of, well, pretty much the entire firearm world. For years, decades actually, the only launchers for the round were made by the same company responsible for its genesis, FN America. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, the round just exploded in popularity. CMMG unveiled its Banshee in 5.7x28 mm. Then Ruger brought out the Ruger-57. It's everywhere you turn around these days, it seems...

I had a chance to talk to the folks at Ruger about this, and brand ambassador and sponsored shooter Doug Koenig took a few moments out of his hectic schedule to talk with us about the Ruger-57. In addition to Koenig shooting the Ruger, I took a turn as well, and if it isn't just the epitome of big, stupid fun I really don't know what is. Negligible recoil, flat-shooting and just plain fun—not to mention there's 20+1 bees at the ready.
