A first for the company, IWI U.S. introduced the new Zion 15 M4-style rifle at the 2020 SHOT Show in Las Vegas.

Chambered in 5.56 NATO, the new Zion 15 features a 16-inch barrel with 15-inch free-float M-Lok handguard that allows for a vast array of accessories and optics well suited to a variety of tactical and defensive applications. The rifle employs a B5 Systems stock and pistol grip and ships with one 30-round PMAG. The no-frills B5 stock features fixed sling mounts and an ergonomic cheek weld, as well as a no-slip cushioned buttpad for maximum maneuverability.

Thanks to IWI’s attention to detail and extensive quality control, the Zion 15 lives up to the military specifications of both U.S. and IDF armed forces. Proudly manufactured in Middletown, Pennsylvania, the Zion 15 was developed to ensure IWI’s continued presence in the U.S. market should the restriction on foreign-produced firearms be implemented. The Zion 15 weighs a nimble 6.5 pounds and has an overall length of between 33 to 36.25 inches depending on stock position. The rifle features a 4150 chrome moly vanadium HB barrel with 1:8-inch twist and is direct gas-impingement operated.

The Zion 15 ships without sights and has a full-length Picatinny top rail to accommodate a variety of optics and accessories, while the M-Lok handguard provides ample space for grips, lights or lasers. The rifle features right-hand controls and a forward assist and carries an MSRP of $899. Highly versatile and ruggedly designed for defensive purposes, the new Zion 15 can handle any close-quarters situation.

My first trip to the range with my new Smith & Wesson Model 640 went from eager anticipation to sheer disappointment. The first five shots downrange at 10 yards went into an acceptable cluster on the right edge of the target.
