Switzerland-based Brugger & Thomet announced two new additions to its lineup of APC rifles through its Florida-based USA subsidiary, bringing .308-Win. caliber options to the U.S. market. The new APC308 guns build on the success of the company's initial lineup of APC223 rifles.

Like its small-caliber cousins, the B&T APC308 operates on a short-stroke gas-piston operating system and features a locked, rotating bolt. One of the innovative elements inside the action is a shock-absorbing mechanism, which aims to reduce the felt recoil experienced by shooters. Rifles are also constructed with an aim toward improved ergonomics, as well as including ambidextrous controls.

Each B&T APC308 is outfitted with a full-length handguard, complete with Picatinny rails along the top, bottom and sides of the fore-end. Folding iron sights also ship standard on these guns, and an optional folding charging handle is also included. Two models are offered in the APC308 family: A DMR-style rifle outfitted with an 18-inch barrel and a carbine-length option equipped with a 14.3-inch barrel. Each rifle can be equipped with the company's optional folding stock (shown above), and the guns ship with 20-round SR-25 magazines. Additionally, an optional folding charging handle is also available.

Each B&T APC308 ships with a vertical fore-grip, cleaning kit, rifle sling and case. With the fixed, adjustable stock extended fully, each rifle measures 34.41 to 40;43 inches long, depending on barrel length. The overall height of the platform is 9.25 inches, and the guns measure 2.64 inches wide. Barrels are outfitted with a twist rate of 1:12 inches, and the guns weigh 8.6 to 10.6 pounds with an empty magazine and iron sights installed, again depending on barrel length.

Suggested retail pricing on the 14.3-inch carbine starts at $3,500, while the 18-inch barreled DMR model retails for $3,700.
