For California-based fans of .22 LR handguns, Walther Arms offers models in its P22 lineup designed to meet all requirements that allow the gun to be sold in the state. In addition to the permanent P22 addition to the lineup, the company also announced the launch of a limited-edition model that's also approved by the California Department of Justice.

The new additions to the company's P22 CA collection brings the number of Walther rimfire pistols available to state residents up to eight, all featuring different finish options. The guns are built on a double-action/single-action, hammer-fired operating system that provides a 4-pound trigger pull in single-action and an 11-pound pull in double-action. Total trigger travel measures just 0.6 inch. Magazine capacity is limited to 10 rounds, and the gun is equipped with a slide-mounted manual safety, as well as two drop safeties and a firing-pin block. The standard P22 CA FDE is equipped with an FDE-colored polymer frame paired with a black slide and black accents. such as the slide release, magazine release and trigger. A limited version of the pistol can be had with an FDE frame and a matched FDE-colored slide, along with black-colored controls.

With the new finish and other features required by the CA DOJ, California residents can enjoy many of the elements that have made Walther handguns popular across the country, particularly the gun's signature ergonomic frame with a textured grip surface and contours designed to fit comfortably into a shooter's hand. The smaller size of the grip makes the P22 CA ideally suited for smaller shooters, making it a great training gun for younger enthusiasts.

Each Walther P22 CA comes equipped with three-dot sights made from polymer, with the rear sight adjustable for windage to help owners dial-in their guns. The slide also features serrations at the front and rear to accommodate all modes of manipulation, and a view port located at the rear of the chamber gives users the ability to quickly determine whether or not the gun is loaded. After the last round is fired, the slide will lock back on an empty magazine. The suggested retail price on the Walther Arms P22 CA FDE starts at $329 for the FDE frame and black slide, and the all-FDE model retails for $339.
