Designed to enhance trigger responsiveness, Apex Tactical's Action Enhancement kits have long been go-to options for tuning up a trigger on any range gun. Now, with the popularity of the new Ruger Mk IV line of rimfire handguns, the company offers these trigger-improvement options for standard Mk IV pistol models as well as the 1911-inspired 22/45 lineup of guns.
Each Apex Tactical Action Enhancement trigger kit provides a replacement hammer and trigger for the specific Ruger Mk IV handguns. These components are direct, drop-in replacements for the OEM trigger and hammer, offering a lighter trigger-pull weight, a cleaner trigger break and minimized trigger travel. Each kit also includes the company's own safety-delete plate, a red-anodized component that allows the Ruger Mk IV to fire without a magazine inserted. Apex recommends that this feature be installed only for competition use. In addition to all of these benefits, the replacement parts preserve all the factory safeties found in the gun, and the company ensures consumers that its components have survived a six-foot drop test onto hard concrete without discharging.
For standard Ruger Mk IV pistols, the Apex Tactical Action Enhancement kit reduces the trigger pull to about 3.5 pounds. After the trigger break, the all-new trigger reduces overtravel by about 50 percent, while the total trigger-travel distance is reduced by 15 percent. The kit offered for the Mk IV 22/45 also reduces total trigger travel by the same amount, but the overall trigger-pull weight is reduced to 4.5 pounds instead of 3.5 pounds. Both kits provide a cleaner, crisper trigger break and can be installed easily by Mk IV pistol owners.
Options in the Apex Tactical Action Enhancement kits for Ruger Mk IV pistols are available with either a red- or black-anodized trigger. The suggested retail price on the kits is $89.95.
