The market of micro-reflex optics has grown wildly over the last few years, thanks in part to the trend of slide-mounted red-dot sights, and Nikon joined the fray in 2018 with the launch of the company's P-Tactical SPUR reflex sight, offering many of the benefits of high-end optics at a price consumers can easily afford.

The Nikon P-Tactical SPUR reflex sight is built with a compact housing machined from aluminum alloy that measures 1.8 inches x 1.1 inches x 1 inch, ensuring that it'll easily fit onto any consumer's rifle, pistol or shotgun. The unit is built for ruggedness, having been tested to be shockproof and IPX7 waterproof. For added protection against the elements, the sight features a matte-black finish.

At the heart of the optic, consumers will find a window that measures 27 mm x 16 mm, providing plenty of space to find the 3 MOA red dot for easy aiming. The window is a multi-coated lens that incorporates the company's unique, proprietary "TruColor" lens coating, designed to eliminate the blue tint found on many reflex-optic windows. This ensures that the view through the window is natural and enables shooters to easily find their targets without being thrown by an unnatural tint.

The 3-MOA red dot is powered by a CR1632 battery that can be accessed from the top of the unit, enabling users to maintain zero during battery changes. Users can choose between 10 different brightness options, including two low-end settings compatible with night-vision equipment. On a mid-range setting, battery life measures 15,000 hours of continuous operation, and the red dot flashes to signal that battery life is low.

Each Nikon P-Tactical SPUR reflex sight can be attached directly to the milled slide of a handgun using a mounting plate. Currently, Nikon is working with handgun manufacturers to develop a compatible plate design. For attachment on a rifle or shotgun, the sight ships with a Picatinny-rail mount that clamps onto the optics rail. Also included with the SPUR is a protective hood that slides over the optics window when the sight isn't in use.

The P-Tactical SPUR reflex sight is covered under Nikon's 5-year warranty and retails at a suggested price of $219.95.
