New for 2019: SIG Sauer MPX Pistol Caliber Carbine

posted on December 6, 2018
In recent years, pistol-caliber platforms have increased in popularity, particularly among competitive shooters who appreciate the reduced ammo cost and easy handling of these low-recoil firearms. At the tail end of 2018, SIG Sauer announced it had refined its popular MPX design to create the new MPX Pistol Caliber Carbine, designed especially for success in competition.

“The enhanced MPX PCC offers a more robust set of features, making it ready to go right out of the box at the same price point,” said Tom Taylor, chief marketing officer and executive vice president of commercial sales at SIG Sauer, Inc. “Our team of engineers has incorporated improvements into the MPX PCC that will benefit the end-user of this product, while reducing the overall weight of the rifle by a pound. At SIG, we are always looking to combine value with the quality our consumers demand from us, and the enhanced MPX PCC is a great example of this.”

One user of the new SIG Sauer MPX Pistol Caliber Carbine is Team SIG Professional Shooter Lena Miculek. She took to the pistol-caliber carbine shooting sports early on and is now considered one of the world's top female shooters in the PCC competition category. At the 2018 USPSA Nationals, she was the first woman to place in the top five overall finishers in the PCC category and was also the first woman to win the Master Class category in PCC competition.

“When it comes to my competition equipment, I want a rifle that’s reliable, accurate, and easy to shoot, and the SIG MPX PCC checks all the boxes,” Miculek said. “With my MPX PCC I move easily between stages, and I have seen improved speed, greater accuracy, and really elevated my competition to the next level. The enhancements that SIG has incorporated into the MPX PCC will make a real difference to the professional shooter and be quickly realized in competition.”

Each SIG Sauer MPX Pistol Caliber Carbine is constructed with a 16-inch barrel, chambered in 9 mm, complete with a threaded muzzle and 1:10-inch rate of twist. The muzzle is topped with a specially designed, three-chamber recoil compensator, ensuring that shooters can keep the muzzle stabilized on target during rapid-fire strings. Surrounding the barrel is the company's slim-line, free-float handguard, which offers M-Lok accessory-attachment points at the 3-, 6- and 9-o'clock positions. Other features of the MPX PCC include a Timney single-stage trigger, five-position stock and ambidextrous fire controls.

Shipping with a single, 30-round magazine, the SIG Sauer MPX Pistol Caliber Carbine measures 35.25 inches in overall length, weighs 6.6 pounds, unloaded, and is treated with a black, anodized finish. The suggested retail price on the gun is $2,016.
