Norwegian Police Choose SIG Sauer P320 X-Series

The Norwegian Police has selected the SIG Sauer P320 X-Series as the standard service pistol for select agencies within its organization. The Norwegian Police is comprised of 8,000 police officers and 8,000 civilian personnel responsible for domestic law enforcement, border control, coordinating search and rescue operations, counter-terrorism, highway patrol, judicial orders, criminal investigation and prosecution.

In June, the Denmark Ministry of Defence selected the P320 X-Carry. It was the first European NATO country to select a SIG Sauer P320 series pistol as its officially issued standard-service firearm.

The Norwegian Police conducted a testing protocol that lasted several weeks with firearms from multiple manufacturers. Accuracy, speed, performance and ergonomics were gauged by select agencies within the Norwegian Police with whom the pistol would be in service with during the procedure, and a third party was used for evaluating technical qualities. In all areas, the SIG Sauer P320 X-Series outperformed the competition, making it the pistol of choice.

The P320 X-Series pistol is a modular, striker-fired pistol with a serialized trigger group available in varying grip sizes and adaptable to multiple calibers. The intuitive three-point takedown requires no trigger pull for disassembly, and safety features include a striker safety, disconnect safety, and optional manual safety.
