Glock added new members to its Gen 5 handgun family at the beginning of 2018, bringing the G26 Gen 5 in to join the G17, G19 and G34 Gen 5 pistols now on the market.

"The development of our Gen 5 pistols was the result of the constant pursuit of perfection and a desire to meet the requests of the consumer market," Glock VP Josh Dorsey said.

More than 20 different changes to the external and internal design of the Glock pistol differentiates the Glock Gen 5 handgun models from their Gen 4 predecessors. In creating these changes, the company addressed many of the consumer desires being voiced in the marketplace.

Among the many changes on the new Glock G26 Gen 5 is the inclusion of the company's Glock Marksman Barrel, which is designed with improved polygonal rifling and an enhanced crown at the muzzle end. These improvements work to tighten up groups and provide heightened accuracy and precision while still allowing the gun to be easily carried and concealed.

On the Gen 5 pistol series, Glock also did away with the grooved design on the frame, making the grip frame more accessible to all types of hand sizes on the market. In addition to the frame's design changes, the new pistol also incorporates ambidextrous slide stops for left- and right-hand use. The company also upgraded the finish on the gun to an enhanced nDLC treatment that increases the durability and ruggedness of the platform.

"We have combined the standards of high-level performance and reliability with distinctive design enhancements to improve durability, accuracy and performance," Dorsey said. "The benefits enhance the shooter experience at the range and in high-stress situations where fractions of a second matter."

Spec-wise, the G26 still retains the same overall footprint as the Gen 4 model, measuring in at an overall length of 6.42 inches, a height of 4.17 inches and a width of 1.3 inches. Unloaded, the pistol weighs 21.7 ounces. The suggested retail price on the new Glock G26 Gen 5 is $699.

New Pistol Suppressors for 2025

We hear you (pun intended)! This year, we are reporting manufacturer’s sound-reduction rating where available. Now, not every manufacturer makes that information publicly available, so you’ll see a fair number of “N/As” where no decibel-reduction numbers were provided, but rest assured that, despite what you might think, the noise-reduction rating is one of the least important factors when choosing a new suppressor (more on that in a future article).
