Glock made news late in 2017 with the announcement that the company would introduce the G19X to the commercial market. The pistol was initially developed as Glock's submission to the U.S. military's Modular Handgun System trials.

The Glock G19X combines the full-size frame of the G17 along with the compact slide of the G19. It is the first-ever gun to come from the company's factory with a colored slide, and the G19X features a flat dark earth finish that stands out from the company's other product lines.
