Springfield Armory kicked off 2018 with the launch of its 911 pistol, a micro-sized .380 ACP handgun designed as an easily concealed personal-defense firearm that takes advantage of modern advances in the threat-stopping ability of the .380 ACP round.

“With such great advances made in modern defense ammunition, the .380 has become a seriously viable defensive platform,” Springfield Armory CEO Dennis Reese said. “Our customers deserve a pistol that makes the most of it. Once you try it, you’ll be as convinced as we are that this is the best .380 pistol choice available.”

The Springfield Armory 911 pistol is built on an aluminum frame machined from 7075 T6 billet and given a hard-anodized finish for added durability. The slide is milled from 416 stainless steel and finished with a black-nitride treatment on the all-black model. A model with a stainless slide is also available. Inside the slide, users will find a 2.7-inch barrel machined from 416R stainless steel and given a 1:16-inch rate of twist. The barrel also features the same black-nitride finish found on the company's slide, ensuring its durability and corrosion resistance.

On the frame, consumers will find heavily textured G10 grips, paired up with the company's specially designed Octo-Grip checkering located on the mainspring housing and front strap of the frame. The gun also features1911-style controls, such as an ambidextrous manual thumb safety, strong-side magazine release and a single-action trigger. The frame also incorporates a short beavertail to protect users' hands from the exposed, skeletonized hammer.

The slide features rear-facing chevrons designed to provide ample gripping surface for users to easily charge the gun. The pistol ships from the factory with AmeriGlo Pro-Glo night sights, which use front and rear sights equipped with green tritium lamps for easy visibility in low-light conditions. For daytime shooting, the front lamp is encircled by a yellow ring, enabling shooters to easily pick it up and get on target in any condition. The rear sight also features the popular tactical-rack front ledge, enabling users to rack the slide using any flat surface.

Spec-wise, the Springfield Armory 911 measures 5.5 inches long and 3.9 inches high. With an empty magazine installed, overall weight of the pistol is 12.6 ounces. The gun also comes equipped with a loaded-chamber indicator and is built with a full-length guide rod and a flat-wire spring. The gun ships with one flush-fit six-round magazine and an extended seven-round magazine, both made from stainless steel.

The suggested retail price on the Springfield Armory 911 .380 ACP pistol is $599. Models equipped with integrated Viridian green-laser grips retail at a suggested price of $789.
