Ruger announced the launch of its new American Ranch rifle chambered in the 7.62x39 AK cartridge, providing consumers with a compact bolt-action rifle combined with the power and availability of a popular AK chambering.

"Rifles chambered in the popular 7.62x39 mm cartridge have been a frequent request from our customers, and we are proud to bring this exciting new bolt-action configuration to market," said Chris Killoy, Ruger president and CEO. "Pairing this cartridge with the Ruger American Rifle Ranch model and employing the Mini Thirty magazine expands the utility and capability of this compact rifle."

One of the benefits offered by the new Ruger American Ranch rifle is the adoption of the Mini Thirty magazine as the principal feeding mechanism for the gun. All metal-box Mini Thirty magazines, including 20- and 30-round options available from Ruger, are compatible with the new rifle. The gun ships with a single 5-round magazine that is ideal for use in hunting applications.

The Ruger American Ranch rifle is based off the company's popular and affordable American Rifle lineup, providing users with a more compact option than other rifles offered by Ruger. Despite the decreased length, the rifle still provides hard-hitting accuracy, featuring a 16.1-inch cold-hammer-forged barrel with a medium contour and a 5/8x24 TPI threaded muzzle.

The rifle comes outfitted with a synthetic stock in flat dark earth that features Ruger's Power Bedding system, incorporating an integrated bedding block that ensures users have a rifle with a free-floated barrel for maximum accuracy potential. The rifle also features a one-piece bolt that operates with three lugs and provides a 70-degree throw that allows owners to mount any optic without worrying about bolt clearance.

The Ruger American Ranch rifle also features the company's trademarked Marksman Adjustable trigger, which can be set between 3-5 pounds, based on the user's preference. The rifle also comes equipped with a Picatinny scope rail and weighs in at 5.9 pounds. The suggested retail price on the new 7.62x39 American Ranch rifle is $599.
