The Hackathorn Special Commander is constructed with a 4.25-inch barrel on a full-size Government frame, which features a Wilson Combat Bullet Proof magwell that facilitates easier reloads, as well as a hammer and grip safety designed for easy concealment. The gun also comes equipped with a medium-length trigger, which was chosen by Hackathorn as his preferred trigger style.
Since the gun is built to Hackathorn's specifications, the pistol comes loaded with a wide variety of features. The frame features 30 lines-per-inch (LPI) checkering on the front strap of the grip along with flat-bottom Starburst-pattern grips made from G10 fiberglass laminate. The frame is also equipped with the company's tactical Bullet Proof thumb safety, Bullet Proof mag release and a countersunk slide stop.
The slide features 30 LPI checkering on its top in order to reduce glare, and the rear of the slide features 40 LPI checkering for the same purpose. The slide is constructed from carbon steel and features rear serrations only. The gun is equipped with a Battlesight rear sight, along with a high-visibility fiber-optic front sight. Inside the slide, users will find a stainless-steel match-grade barrel that features a flush-cut reverse crown and a fluted chamber hood.
