First Look: Vanquest Trident-31 Backpack

Vanquest announced the introduction of its new Trident-31 backpack for 2017, providing consumers with an increased capacity option over the Trident-20.

The 31 in the the Trident backpack name comes from its overall internal capacity, which measures 31 liters, more than 10 liters larger than the company's Trident-20. The new pack also features redesigned shoulder straps that improve carry comfort, as well as more padding in the back as well as a padded waist that is removable. Together, all of these upgrades mean that consumers can now carry more gear, and all of that gear can be carried comfortably.

The Trident-31 backpack features a fully padded main compartment that includes four separate dividers that can be used to section off and organize gear or provide extra protection for gear stored inside the bag. The main compartment also features a laptop sleeve that can accommodate laptops with screen sizes up to 17 inches.

The Vanquest Trident-31 takes cues from other bags in the Trident lineup, meaning that it can function as a large sling pack with gear accessible from the top or left side of the bag. The sling-pack setup also means that users can quickly swing the bag around to their chest and immediately access any gear inside. Including to the main compartment and the four padded dividers inside, the bag features 44 different slots and other pockets for gear organization and storage.

Other features of the Trident-31 include MOLLE air panels on the left and right sides of the bag. The pack includes a collapsible water-bottle pocket on the side that also functions as a tripod storage option for photographers using an included tie-down point. Inside the backpack, users can find a dual hydration system that accommodates the use of up to 6 liters of water in hydration bags, along with anchor points for hoses on both shoulder straps.

The Trident-31 is constructed using 1000-D Cordura fabric, which is coated in Teflon for durability. The bag also features lockable zippers and weighs in at a total of 4.7 pounds. The suggested retail price on the pack is $199.99.
