The latest rifle in the Monobloc lineup from HM Defense is the new Avenger M308, an AR-10-platform gun that meets the demand for a larger .308 Win.-caliber firearm in the company's lineup.

"The Avenger offers the same high level of innovation and capability found in our HM15 rifle now in the larger HM10 platform," said Clay Barker, general manager at HM Defense. "We are confident that our customers will be pleased with the premium features and value of our new rifle."

The new Avenger M308 rifle uses the company's custom billet lower constructed from 7075-T6 aluminum, which is designed to provide owners with a lighter battle rifle that still provides the same strength and durability as standard AR-10 receivers. The upper is also a custom design from HM Defense, featuring the company's innovative Monobloc system.

The Monobloc gas-block barrel features an integrally machined gas block into the design of the barrel itself. The company claims that this gives shooters reduced recoil and improved accuracy above more traditional clamp-on gas-block designs. In addition, the integral gas block also prevents the possibility of gas blocks working themselves loose and turning the semi-auto platform into a single-shot rifle.

The HM Defense Avenger M308 is chambered in .308 Win. and features a barrel constructed from 4150 chrome moly steel. The total length of the barrel is 18 inches, and it features a 1:10 twist rate and a rifle-length gas system for optimum performance. The barrel is also threaded to allow for the use of muzzle devices and suppressors.

Surrounding the barrel is the company's own free-float handguard design, featuring a continuous Picatinny top rail to accommodate the mounting of optics, as well as M-Lok slots for the customization and mounting of accessories. The upper also features a stainless-steel barrel nut, as well as the company's own custom-designed muzzle brake.

Other features of the gun include a 3-pound Velocity AR trigger, as well as an HM Defense lightweight butt stock and a Magpul MOE pistol grip. The gun also features a custom charging handle from the company. The HM Defense Avenger M308 rifle can be had in three different Cerakote finishes: black, midnight tungsten and flat dark earth. The suggested retail price on the gun is $1,895.
