First Look: Caldwell Lead Sled DFT2 Rest

Caldwell Shooting Supplies, a division of Battenfeld Technologies, introduced its new Lead Sled DFT2 shooting rest, which is designed to give gun owners an easy-to-use recoil-reduction system that allows for the use of any rifle or shotgun.

The new shooting rest incorporates custom-fit features that ensure the ability to mount any length of shotgun or rifle, using a a sliding cradle that adjusts to the total length of the firearm. The rest also features a skeletonized front rest made from material that won't damage or scratch a firearm's fore-end.

The rest uses a dual-frame design that allows for the maximum amount of recoil dispersion possible, ensuring that shooters can make repeatable shots and accurately shoot any firearm from the bench. In addition, the solid rest allows gun owners to build solid shooting skills without worrying about recoil, movement or other factors that arise without the use of a rest.

The Caldwell Lead Sled DFT2 shooting rest allows for a maximum of 2.5 inches of total elevation adjustment, featuring an adjustment wheel that offers smooth and precise adjustment through the use of ball bearings. The overall length of the rest can be adjusted up to a total of 18 inches in order to accommodate as many various long guns as possible.

An additional benefit of the rest's dual-frame design is the ability for the Lead Sled to accommodate rifles with 30-round standard-capacity magazines, which won't interfere with the unit's solid frame. The rest features a baffled tray that allows for the use of lead- or sand-filled bags that allow shooters to build a solid shooting position.

The Lead Sled DFT2 also features rubber-tipped feet that ensure total protection against skidding and other sudden movements. Finally, the rest features a new recoil-reducing pad that absorbs the shock of a firearm's recoil. This recoil-absorption pad, combined with the no-skid feet and a filled weight tray, ensure that shooter's won't deal with felt recoil, allowing for extended practice times, better shooting experiences and the ability to accurately and confidently zero optics without error.

The suggested retail price on the new Caldwell Lead Sled DFT2 shooting rest is $259.99.
