Kimber added six new models to its Micro pistol lineup chambered in .380 ACP and 9 mm, providing 1911 aficionados with new finishes and features found in the company's other pistol lines.

"We couldn't be more proud of the marketplace performance of Micro and Micro 9," said Ryan Busse, vice president of sales at Kimber. "With the platform's increased success, comes augmented consumer demand for the addition of these new line-extensions, which we're happy to meet."

The new models in the .380-ACP Micro line feature Desert Tan and Rose Gold finishes. Additions to the company's Micro 9 lineup have Rose Gold, Midnight, Desert Night and Woodland Night finishes. The suggested retail prices for these new models range from $747 to $1,061.

"The Micro and Micro 9 are truly exceptional platforms that offer the user adequate stopping power combined with the stunning looks and reliability that people have come to expect from Kimber," said Winslow Potter, Kimber's director of product management. "We're working hard to build products that better suit our customers' specific applications and individual personalities, and these six new Micro and Micro 9 line extensions do a good job in helping to tell that story."

The Kimber Micro platform uses a barrel and slide constructed from stainless steel to repel moisture and prevent corrosion. The frame of the guns is made from high-quality aluminum for reduced weight, making it a solid carry option. Some of the highlight features of the guns are the 1911-style single-action trigger, along with a thumb safety, slide release and magazine release based on the 1911 platform.

The guns also use lowered and flared ejection ports for increased reliability, as well as a beveled magwell to promote trouble-free loading. The steel sights are placed in machined dovetails for extra strength. For those looking for 1911-style controls and ergonomics in a pocketable concealed-carry pistol, the Micro lineup worth a look.

MIM Myths

Metal-injection molding (MIM) creates complex, durable and reliable metal parts in things we use daily. Its ability to churn out high volumes at reduced cost endeared it to the firearm industry decades ago. Despite that fact, gun companies we asked about the process were tight lipped.
