Remington Arms announced the introduction of the new Model 870 Tac-14, designed as a non-NFA short-barreled model of its popular Model 870 shotgun.

The company manufactures its Tac-14 as a "firearm," not a shotgun, so it leaves the factory without ever having met the legal definition of a shotgun. This allows the company to abide by NFA regulations mandating shotguns to have a minimum barrel length of 18 inches.

The gun must still abide by the regulation that shotguns meet an overall minimum length of 26 inches, and the Shockwave Raptor pistol grip included with the gun ensures that the overall length falls outside of those minimum requirements. Due to the gun's construction, no NFA tax stamp or registration is required.

Other features of the new Remington Model 870 Tac-14 include a Magpul M-Lok fore-end, a bead front sight and an overall length of 26.2 inches. The 14-inch barrel and the solid-steel receiver are both finished in a black-oxide coating. The total weight of the new gun is 5.6 pounds and features a magazine capacity of 4 + 1. The suggested retail price on the new gun is $443.05.
