Lancer Systems announced an update to its line of OEM replacement handguards for the SIG Sauer 516 and 716 rifles and the Heckler & Koch 416 rifle. The company has replaced its proprietary cooling slots with M-Lok-compatible mounting points.

“Customers can look at this as a sign of further developments for Lancer,” said Business Area Manager Kas McManus.

The new handguard designs will be on display during the 2017 NRA Annual Meetings.

Lancer's replacement handguards for SIG Sauer rifles come in two different lengths: carbine and extended. The carbine-length rail measures 7.25 inches in length and weighs in at 7.9 ounces. The extended rail measures in at 13.1 ounces and weighs 9.8 ounces. An added feature of the SIG 516 and 716 rails is a cutaway in the top of the composite tube that allows for easy access to the gas block adjustment knob.

The Heckler & Koch 416 replacement handguard reduces the weight of the handguard component 24 percent over the factory-installed option. The handguard is a free-float design that incorporates an aluminum sight rail and end cap with a carbon-fiber body. The sight rail is designed to match up with the 416 upper receiver.

The suggested retail price for the SIG Sauer replacement handguards is $274.99 for the carbine-length option and $299.99 for the extended option. The H&K 416 replacement handguard retails at a suggested price of $362.57.
