SureFire added a redesigned Aviator flashlight to its lineup in 2017, building on the classic light that was initially designed for use by pilots.

The new Aviator has been reinvented to include a dual-output white LED and a secondary colored LED light in one sealed head. Both of the LED lights are focused using a TIR lens in order to provide users with a beam of light that reaches out and illuminates the surrounding area.

Another feature of the Aviator is its ability to switch from white light to colored light with a pull and twist of its bezel. The light does not require the use of additional filters. Secondary LEDs are available in red, blue, amber and yellow-green.

Each color is designed to help preserve night-adapted vision and prevent eye fatigue. The colored lights also work to cut through fog, locate blood trails, find hydraulic fluid leaks and integrate into night-vision systems.

The Aviator measures in at 4.18 inches long and features a bezel diameter of 1.06 inches. The total weight of the light is 3.1 ounces. The light uses a single 123A battery that provides a run time of 1.5 hours on its maximum setting of 250 lumens and a run time of 5 hours on its low-power setting of 5 lumens.

Colored light battery life ranges from 2.75 hours on high with an amber LED and 58 hours on low with a yellow-green LED.

The suggested retail price of the redesigned SureFire Aviator flashlight is $289.59.
