Leupold offers its Zoom SVS Universal Smartphone Adapter for an easy upgrade to any shooter's spotting scope kit.

The adapter works by latching on to the ocular lens of a Leupold Golden Ring spotting scope. Users simply have to fit the small adapter head to the lip of the ocular lens and depress the latch to secure the adapter. The adapter head is connected to a spring-tensioned smartphone cradle that fits a wide variety of phones, including those with protective cases. The cradle also features protective pads to prevent damage to uncased phones.

Once consumers slide their smartphones into the rubber-padded cradle, the device features two micro-adjustable knobs for horizontal and vertical alignment. With the device attached to a spotting scope, users simply have to adjust the knobs until the ocular lens is aligned with the camera lens on the smartphone.

Once the unit is aligned, shooters can disable the timed shut-off feature for their camera app and use the image projected onto the smartphone screen to view targets or animals at a distance. The benefit of using the adapter is the ability to quickly glance at the screen while remaining mounted in a shooting position. On a target range, shooters can quickly discern a hit or miss without disruption, allowing them to quickly get back on target.

For shooters who don't own a Leupold Golden Ring spotting scope, the company also includes an additional adapter with a hook-and-loop strap that fits any ocular lens. The second adapter head easily attaches to the same mounting post as the Gold Ring adapter and can be switched out without the use of tools.

The suggested retail price on the Leupold Zoom SVS Universal Smartphone Adapter is $75. For iPhone users, Leupold also offers a new iPhone specific adapter, which is covered in this article.
