Springfield Armory announced the addition of the XD Mod.2 4-inch Service Model and the 5-inch Tactical Model, both in .45 ACP, to the company's product line.

The new Mod.2 Service Model features a 4-inch barrel, low-profile sights, a slim-contour frame and a 13+1 capacity. Designed for duty and concealed carry, the Mod.2 Service Model features a width of 1.2 inches, despite having a double-stack magazine. Other features on the new model include Springfield's GripZone ergonomics, as well as multiple safety features, including the striker-status indicator, loaded-chamber indicator, internal firing-pin block and the Ultra Safety Assurance Action Trigger System.

The company also introduced the new XD Mod.2 Tactical Model, which features a 5-inch barrel and has a total capacity of 13+1 in .45 ACP. The carbon-forged steel barrel on the Tactical is treated with Melonite in order to provide increased resistance to moisture and sweat. The slide also features the same Melonite treatment. Other improvements include the Springfield High Hand grip on the beavertail of the handgun, as well as new GripZone contours.

The suggested retail price on the new Service Model is $593, while the Tactical Model retails at a suggested price of $637.
