Faxon Firearms saw an opportunity to create a lightweight bolt carrier group that would surpass all other options on the market. The end result was the Faxon Gunner Light Weight Bolt Carrier Group.

According to the company, the Gunner BCG is the lightest a bolt carrier group can possibly be, weighing in at a total of 8.5 ounces. Of that 8.5 ounces, the carrier and the key make up 6.24 ounces.

The Gunner BCG is finished with mil spec materials or better and come with forward assist serrations and includes a full-auto trip sear for use in select-fire AR rifles. The BCG also works with multi-stage triggers.

The piece itself is constructed from 9310 tool steel, which is stronger than the typical C158 steel used in the construction of a BCG. The BCG then undergoes a salt bath nitride proceture that increases the carrier's slickness. This means that the carrier will require less gas and pressure to operate. The process also increases corrosion and wear resistance.

Every BCG that Faxon offers for sale undergoes magnetic particle inspection to ensure that there are no defects in the material. The back of the bolt lugs are chamfered at 45 degrees to promote reliable operation at high pressures.

The gas keys on Faxon's lightweight BCG all use grade 8 fasteners and are fully staked to ensure a long service life. The Faxon Gunner Light Weight Bolt Carrier Group retails at a suggested price of $249.
