Magpul unveiled a new system for attaching accessories to rifles, and it may replace the Picatinny rail. The company's new M-Lok system makes use of a clean, smoothed rectangular cut and utilizes a T-nut to attach accessories without needing to remove any parts. In other words, no access to the back side of the accessory or rail section is needed. The system adjusts evenly thanks to half-slot increments, which also allow for placement where the user chooses.Best of all, Magpul is offering the M-Lok system as a free license to other manufacturers, meaning many AR accessory makers will be building for the system very soon, as seen by the Geissele fore-end below. Because of the multitude of partners, the ubiquitous Picatinny rail may see its days numbered as more and more accessories mount directly to guns via the M-Lok system.
