The .460 Rowland is not a .46 caliber. It uses the same size bullet as a .45 ACP, but drives it to a much faster velocity. Recoil can be between stiff and punishing, but this load was tested in a Wilson Combat Hunter 1911, which has a ported barrel. To me, the recoil seemed comparable to standard 230-grain .45 ACP loads—one reason it is included in the "Terminal Tuesday" listings of defensive handgun loads. Penetration was deep and the wound cavity was horrifically large; it cracked the gelatin block. This is a standard factory load from Wilson Combat.
