The 180-grain brass jacketed bullet penetrated almost 14 inches in the gelatin block, which shows why it is considered a good option by the FBI and used by other police agencies. However, with penetration this deep, I'm not sure it qualifies as a home-defense load for anyone concerned about overpenetration. The core unlocked from the jacket, but both were found together. Expansion was on par with many .45 ACP loads.
