These loads should make handguns—especially the lighter weight, compact models—easier to manage. The .327 Fed. Mag. was first offered in the Ruger SP101, six-shot revolver. This 28-ounce handgun is not light by any stretch of the imagination, but when fired with full-power .327 Fed. Mag. loads it is still a handful. The 85-grain, Hydra-Shok Low Recoil load is much easier on the hand in the SP101 and reasonably gentle in the heavier GP100. It also performs rather well in 10-percent ordnance gelatin—similar to many 9 mm loads and at least as well as, if not better than, some .38 Spl. +P offerings.
