Nosler has an impeccable reputation for building bullets that work. The company even catalogs some of its pistol bullets as muzzleloading rifle projectiles. The 185-grain .45 ACP +P load from DoubleTap is indeed a +P offering, and you will know it when you pull the trigger. Recoil is intense. But, so is the devastation this bullet creates inside a gelatin block. The wound cavity was as wide as any seen from a JHP bullet and penetration was what I consider optimal for personal protection. The bullet's large hollow point suggests it will work just the same after penetrating clothing, but like many conventional, lead core bullets, without further testing we don't know how it would perform after impacting a hard, intermediate barrier.
