The 115-grain, .312-inch diameter, Gold Dot bullet was purpose built just for this cartridge and has exceptional terminal performance. The Gold Dot bullet has a copper jacket and an alloy core bonded to the jacket. Speer engineers specifically designed it to work at the blistering velocities of which the .327 Fed. is capable. It will expand to an unheard of two-times its original diameter and still retain near 100 percent of its weight. The 115-grain Speer Gold Dot load was tested in 10-percent ordnance gelatin out of a 3-inch barreled Ruger SP 101 and a Ruger GP 100 with a 4.2-inch barrel. The longer barrel generated 103 fps more velocity.
