We've covered some of the quality offerings from Steel Will previously here at Shooting Illustrated, including the larger Druid Neck Knife. Everything we've seen from the company's has been rock-solid and has stood up to everything we've asked of a fine quality blade. That quality, however, does come at a price point on the higher end.

The Druid Neck Knife series brings Steel Will's quality at a price most can afford. The one-piece construction (9Cr18MoV steel) includes a finger recess for greater controllability and a clip-point blade. The 283 has an overall length of 5.3 inches, and the blade measures slightly less than 2.3 inches. Weight is an ultralight 1.6 ounces.

Also included is a kydex sheath form-fitted to the Druid and a length of ball chain so that it can be carried, as the name implies, around the neck. The light weight means you don't feel like you're being constantly weighed down, and the thinness of the sheath keeps printing to a minimum.

MSRP: $39.99.

MIM Myths

Metal-injection molding (MIM) creates complex, durable and reliable metal parts in things we use daily. Its ability to churn out high volumes at reduced cost endeared it to the firearm industry decades ago. Despite that fact, gun companies we asked about the process were tight lipped.
