Magpul PCC drum magazine

A few years ago, Magpul introduced a drum magazine for the beloved HK HK94/MP5 large-format pistol and pistol-caliber carbine. It held 50 rounds of 9mm but was short enough to offer ground clearance when firing prone. Its success has warranted successors, as not everyone owns an HK-based PCC.

One of the nice recent trends is the introduction of PCCs accepting the same magazines as popular handguns. Magazine commonality is both a tactical advantage and a simple convenience. Now Magpul has introduced its PMAG D-50 GL-9 PCC drum magazine suited to those pistol-caliber carbines designed to accept Glock magazines.

A ratcheting loading lever allows you to take tension off the internal spring for easier loading and unloading. A bright orange follower is easy to see and there is a clear window in the rear to allow you to check your ammunition capacity. Despite what you’d assume to be complicated maintenance, the magazine design is sophisticated to the point of simplicity. Hell, I can disassemble and reassemble it.

It's got a little heft, but because it sits amidships between your hands, it balances the PCC well and makes it comfortable to shoot without the gun seeming front- or rear-heavy. It fits most—though not all—PCCs accepting Glock magazines.

MSRP for the Magpul PMAG D-50 GL-9 PCC drum magazine is $124.95 and more information on this product and other gear from Magpul is available at magpul.com.
