Taurus is making an addition to its line of popular 1911 Commander series with a new model chambered in 9mm.

This new pistol is built with the same key specifications and dimensions as the original 1911 Commander .45 ACP, but the new 9mm chambering bumps up magazine capacity and also provides owners with a sweet-shooting platform with lower felt recoil and muzzle rise than its .45-caliber sibling.

Commander-size 1911s have served as a popular defensive handgun for shooters who favor the features of a 1911-style platform and like a gun with a full grip with a shorter profile for daily carry. The all-steel slide and frame on the 9mm 1911 Commander have a matte-black finish that is combined with the aggressively checkering to deliver. The combination delivers a substantive feel in the hand and the kind of durability that has made this handgun a popular choice for those who demand more from their home defense or personal carry firearm.

The 1911 Commander 9mm provides the familiar single-action, hammer-fired design of the 1911, along with a grip safety, manual safety and a firing-pin block. The pistol has an extended beaver tail and drift-adjustable Novak front and rear sights for an optimal sight picture. Built for comfort, speed and power, the 1911 Commander 9mm from Taurus packs a lot of features into one easy-to-carry package.
