The culmination of the partnership between CZ-USA and Dan Wesson, the the DWX was originally launched a few years back. As we’re all aware, between the pandemic in the early 2020s and the attendant supply-chain shortages, production has been slow so far. Now, though, the DWX is in full production and should be readily available.

Combining the best of two different worlds, the DWX has the excellent sliding trigger of a Dan Wesson 1911 along with the CZ-style takedown combined with the double-stack magazine, offering a significant 19+1 round capacity. Sure, the DWX is on the larger side for a concealed-carry pistol, but the 43-ounce weight makes any recoil from the 9 mm completely negligible. Ringing steel at 25 yards on the Gunsite range was deceptively simple, and a pistol you can shoot confidently is worth, well, quite a bit.

Double-stack, 1911-style pistols are definitely the new hotness at the moment, so it’s no surprise the DWX is of interest. Generous capacity, excellent trigger and superlative performance on the range make this a pistol definitely worth a closer look.
