Welcome to another episode of "I Carry," Shooting Illustrated's weekly video series covering the guns and gear needed to put together a potential everyday-carry kit. Today, we have a Mossberg MC1 9 mm in a BlackPoint Tactical holster. We also have a Magpul wallet, a CrossBreed belt and a BlackPoint Tactical magazine carrier.

Mossberg MC1sc (MSRP: $425)

Mossberg stunned the firearm world at the beginning of 2019 with the introduction of the MC1sc, its first handgun design in nearly a century. While, yes, the company had offered a rimfire AR pistol in the twenty-teens, the MC1sc represents Mossberg’s first concealed-carry-ready handgun since the Brownie of the 1920s. We had a chance to check out this new pistol at its introduction at Gunsite late in 2018, and have a feature detailing it in the April 2019 issue of Shooting Illustrated.

Designed as a polymer-frame, striker-fired, subcompact 9 mm as a result of Mossberg’s intensive market research, the MC1 offers as standard equipment many items either lacking in the competition or only available as upgrades. The flat-face trigger has a smooth, crisp break that’s a step above the spongy feel of many standard-issue striker-fired triggers, and the MC1 takes down for cleaning without needing any trigger manipulation whatsoever. It’s clear Mossberg researched this market thoroughly and offered the MC1 with consumer input in mind.

The pistol itself is a familiar size and shape. A three point four inch barrel sits in a stainless steel slide, giving the pistol an overall length of six and a quarter inches. Empty weight is 19 ounces, the trigger has an integrated blade safety and the grip offers a slide palm swell that helps fill the hand and mitigates recoil well. The proprietary magazines are clear and come in flush-fit six round and extended seven round size, with one of each magazine shipping with the MC1.

BlackPoint Tactical Crucial Concealment Holster (MSRP: $59.99)

One of the challenges in designing a brand-new category of firearms is ensuring there’s gear available. Mossberg worked with Black Point Tactical to design a line of holsters for the MC1 before the pistol’s launch specifically to address this issue. The end result is a line of molded Kydex rigs for appendix carry and inside- or outside-the-waistband carry. The Crucial Concealment holster is ambidextrous and has both fixed belt loops and clip-on styles available, and can be purchased through the Mossberg website.

Magpul DAKA Everyday Wallet (MSRP: $24.95)

Magpul’s Gear line, expanded significantly in 2018, has offered minimalist gear like the DAKA Everyday wallet for a few years now. Whether you’re traveling and want to carry only the barest of necessities, or you’re trying to simplify your life in general, the DAKA Everyday wallet is a great choice. With a clear space for an ID and room for three to seven cards, it should hold everything you need in a nearly indestructible polymer fabric that is resistant to chemicals and abrasion.

CrossBreed Crossover Gun Belt (MSRP: $89.99)

When it comes time to pull all your gear together, what you really want is a solid belt that’s easy to manipulate and can be tightened or loosened with ease. CrossBreed’s Crossover gun belt fits this to a T, with a ratchet mechanism to tighten the reinforced inch and a half wide belt. It’s rugged and sturdy and will hold all your gear comfortably, and can accommodate any inside- or outside-the-waistband set up you can think of.

BlackPoint Tactical Crucial Concealment Magazine Pouch (MSRP: $39.99)

Constructed with the same materials as the Crucial Concealment holster referenced earlier, Black Point Tactical’s coordinated IWB/OWB Mag carrier keeps a spare magazine close at hand. With a molded Kydex shell attached to a leather backer for comfort, the OWB mag carrier is a comfortable, affordable option for a spare magazine.
