Building on the company’s success with its GX4 and GX4 XL pistols, Taurus has launched its new GX4 Carry. The company bills this latest addition to the GX4 family as the “New everyday defense solution.” Differentiating the GX4 Carry from the GX4 and GX4XL is a larger, but still compact, frame, which the company claims will deliver an excellent balance of capacity and concealability for the armed citizen. The addition of the GX4 Carry gives Taurus its own entry in yet another new category of pistol, between sub-compact and compact.

Key features of the Taurus GX4 Carry include steel iron sights that can be easily replaced with readily available aftermarket variants, should the end user prefer night sights or another sight picture. Additionally, the GX4 Carry can also be had with an optics-cut slide, red-dot sights with either the RMSc or 501K footprints to be attached directly to the slide. The GX4 Carry also offers a visual Loaded Chamber Indicator, a small cutout in the barrel hood that reveals whether a round is chambered or not.

Other features of the GX4 Carry are a 15-round capacity, with two 15-round magazines shipping with each GX4 Carry (10-round magazines will be available in localities that so limit magazine capacity). There’s a DLC-coated barrel for durability and performance regardless of how challenging the environment may be. Should a light or laser be desired, there’s a MIL-STD-1913 rail under the dustcover. Controls are Teflon-coated for longevity and durability, the magazine release is reversible and takedown is accomplished via a simple pin. My friend and I have a few different handguns we use on a regular basis. Some are for competition, some are for personal defense, some are for casual shooting and I even hunt big game with a handgun.
