First Look: Springfield Armory Model 2020 Waypoint

Springfield Armory is breaking from its mold of producing polymer handguns, 1911s, and AR-type-rifles to introduce a new bolt-action rifle, the Model 2020. Designed for long-range pursuits, whether PRS competition or hunting, the Model 2020 is available in four calibers, including 6 mm Creedmoor, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Win., and 6.5 PRC. 

The Model 2020 comes loaded with features, including a premium, hand-painted, carbon-fiber stock built by AG Composites. The stock is hand-laid and pillar bedded for improved precision and repeatable accuracy. The stock comes in either adjustable or standard configurations, offers five QD mounts for carry in the field, and M-Lok attachment points for mounting of bipods and other accessories. The stock comes in either Ridgeline or Evergreen camo patterns. 

The carbon-fiber-sleeved barrel with subsurface fluting helps reduce weight and provides channels for cooling. The Waypoint is also available with a fluted, stainless steel barrel. 

No long-range rifle would be complete without a great trigger, and the Waypoint is no exception. The rifle comes equipped with Trigger Tech's adjustable Field Trigger, which is adjustable from 2.5-5 pounds and provides a crisp, clean break. The action takes AICS-pattern magazines.
