Springfield Armory 1911 DS Prodigy AOS In Coyote Brown

Springfield Armory is launching a Coyote Brown version of the Prodigy AOS pistol, which will be available in 5- and 4.25-inch-barrel versions with either standard capacity or 10-round magazines.

The 1911 DS Prodigy represents a modern take on the proven 1911 platform, providing shooters with double-stack capacity and a modern feature set. The Cerakote Coyote Brown coating enhances the durability and performance of the firearm and offers significant benefits in terms of longevity and ease of care.

The Prodigy AOS is an optics-ready, double-stack pistol with a raised fiber-optic front sight and U-notch rear sight. It also features an ambidextrous safety, Picatinny rail for accessories and a forged steel receiver. Inside the polymer grip module, you can fit either the included 17 flush-fit magazine or a 20 round extended magazines. An optional 26-round magazine is also available, as are 10-round magazines for states with magazine capacity restrictions.

The polymer grip module features a wraparound texture treatment made popular on Springfield Armory’s Hellcat and Echelon pistols. There are forward serrations on the slide, and both the slide and the steel receiver feature the rugged Coyote Brown Cerakote finish.

The Prodigy is ready to accept a wide range of optical sights. Developed in collaboration with Agency Arms, the Prodigy employs AOS (Agency Optic System) plates designed exclusively for the 1911 DS. Machined from billet 17-4 stainless steel, the AOS plates come fitted with a rear sight and are designed specifically to preserve visible iron sights for an intuitive sight picture and instant target acquisition.

The pistol ships with a cover plate with rear sight as well as one optics-mounting plate designed for the Hex Dragonfly along with a variety of today’s most popular red dots. Additional plates designed to accept a wide range of today’s most popular optics are also available on the Springfield Armory website.

“The Prodigy 9mm took everything that shooters love about the 1911 platform and enhanced it with a double-stack magazine and a host of modern performance features,” says Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory.  “With the new Cerakote Coyote Brown versions, the Prodigy line is now offering fans another must-have addition for their collections.”

All four variants of the new 1911 DS Prodigy in Coyote Brown are being offered for an MSRP of $1,549. For more information on these new Prodigy 9mm pistols, visit springfield-armory.com.
