Safariland Ballast Duty Holster

Safariland recently launched its latest crop of law enforcement and military rated duty holsters with the introduction of the new Ballast series of duty holsters. This next generation duty holster from Safariland aims to maximize space on an officer’s duty belt while also protecting their side-arm from unauthorized access or the surrounding environment. Although Safariland has traditionally used a thermo-molded material to form the holster bodies of their flagship duty rigs, the Ballast takes a different approach by using an even stronger injection molded polymer material that’s more durable in extreme heat or cold settings without the eventual wear of the traditional thermo-molded material. Ballast holsters still use the classic Safariland 3-hole mounting pattern and are compatible with peripheral accessories like the QLS attachment forks and plates.

Another design goal in the development of the Ballast was mitigation from “forced grabs” by adding the Ingress Guard system. Also onboard is the tried-and-true Safariland ALS locking system, which locks the firearm to the holster. Similar consideration was given to the housing built around the top portion of the slide, in order to protect mounted red-dot sights from the elements or impacts.

“The Ballast was created with the safety of law enforcement and patrol officers in mind,” said Eric Gasvoda, Vice President and General Manager of Duty Gear for Safariland. “We took decades of feedback into consideration when creating the Ballast and know we have created our most advanced duty-rated holster.”

Safariland Ballast Duty Holster Features:

  • Open muzzle design allows for easy pass-through of debris.
  • Removable RDS optic lid to protect lens from impact and debris.
  • Red dot sight compatible
  • High heat and low cold tolerances: The material of the holster is structurally sound from temperatures that range between 160 degrees Fahrenheit on the high end to -50 degrees Fahrenheit on the low end.

Retail pricing for the Ballast duty holsters starts at $225. For more information, visit safariland.com.
