Mossberg made waves in 2012 with the launch of its innovative FLEX line of shotguns and accessories. The lineup incorporated the company's then-new Tool-less Locking System (TLS) that allows FLEX-compatible shotguns to use a wide range of accessories. Now, standard Mossberg 500 and Maverick 88 shotguns can take advantage of the FLEX system with new conversion kits.

The conversion kits allow owners of Mossberg 500 and Maverick 88 shotguns chambered in 12- and 20-gauge to build their guns into modular platforms that can take a number of Mossberg-built accessories, such as stocks, fore-ends and recoil pads. These kits allow users to transform their shotgun from a tactical-style battle gun into a rugged field gun with just a few additional pieces.

The first kit available from the company is the Stock and Forend Adapter Kit, which includes the FLEX TLS stock and fore-end adapters. This allows owners to choose from a number of FLEX-compatible stocks, recoil pads and fore-ends for their Mossberg 500 or Maverick 88 shotgun.

The company also made a Stock Adapter with FLEX Pistol Grip Kit available, which provides users with a FLEX pistol grip, along with a sling-swivel stud that is finished in a tactical matte black. This allows shotgun owners to convert their guns to a Cruiser-style shotgun that provides a more compact package for home defense.

Finally, Mossberg provides users with the Stock Adapter Kit, which includes a FLEX TLS stock adapter. This kit allows owners to use any FLEX-compatible stock or pistol grip to customize the length of pull or add tactical and hunting stocks with ease.

Mossberg provides 16 different FLEX accessories, along with a wide selection of accessory barrels for both the Mossberg 500 and the Maverick 88. Available accessories include three different recoil pads, four different synthetic fore-ends and nine different stocks, ranging from standard-length options, pistol grips, six-position tactical stocks and dual-comb hunting stocks.

The suggested retail price on the Mossberg FLEX Conversion Kit for Mossberg 500 and Maverick 88 shotguns starts at $42.
