Beretta 92 FS Olive Drab Green

Beretta USA is now selling a limited-edition version of its single most iconic handgun, the 9mm Beretta 92 FS. This special edition version includes a unique Cerakote olive-drab green finish and a threaded barrel.

The classic 9mm traditional double-action Beretta 92 FS is arguably Beretta’s best-known handgun. This northern Italian firearm manufacturer, arguably the oldest continuously operating firearm company in the world, has made semi-automatic pistols since 1915. Fast forward to 1985, and Beretta won the US military’s XM9 trials with its 92 SB-F pistol (the gun that would eventually become the M9 and the 92 FS). This new gun became the American military’s 9mm sidearm and replaced the aging fleet of .45 ACP M1911A1 pistols.

“The 92 FS is a pistol with a legacy,” said Broxton Carlile, Beretta USA pistol product manager. “This new ODG version gives enthusiasts and professionals alike a chance to own a piece of that history reimagined with a bold, tactical look.”

Except for a threaded barrel, Beretta’s new limited-edition OD Green 92FS retains all of the features found in the original 92 FS. This includes the original-style straight dustcover non-scalloped M9/early 92 FS style frame. In comparison to most other contemporary semi-automatic 9mm service pistols, the 92 FS uses a locking-block action whose origins stem from the German Walther P38. This mechanism skips the need for the traditional, tilting, Browning-style delayed-blowback arrangement. As a result, the Beretta 92 FS’ barrel doesn’t pivot. Its feed ramp is also very short and gentle aiding in additional feeding reliability. Similarly, the lack of a titling path is why these guns have their iconic open-topped sides.

MSRP for this Cerakoted olive drab green edition of the classic Beretta 92FS starts at $799. To learn more, please visit beretta.com.
