Bear Creek Arsenal 400 Legend

Bear Creek Arsenal has just announced the release of an entire new product line consisting of rifles and upper receiver groups chambered for the .400 Legend rifle cartridge. Bear Creek’s new offerings for .400 Legend consist of two 18-inch, full-size AR-pattern rifles, one with a side-charging handle and the other with a standard charging handle, that have an affordable MSRP of $499. Customers can also purchase the same 18-inch .400 Legend upper-receiver groups as standalone items for $200 less. The 18-inch barrels found in these Bear Creek rifles or upper-receiver groups are made from 4150 chrome-moly vanadium and use a 1:16-inch rifling twist to stabilize .400 Legend projectiles. In addition to this, these upper receiver groups include Bear Creek’s Talon 15-inch split handguard, which is a lightweight M-Lok-compatible handguard made from 7075 series aluminum. The entire upper receiver assembly weighs only 6.5 pounds with the bolt carrier group included.

Like the .350 Legend, the .400 is a straight-walled rifle cartridge developed by Winchester. The .400 Legend has a nominal bore diameter of .40-caliber (10 mm) and is primarily meant for shooters and deer hunters who live in certain regions throughout the U.S. where hunting with higher velocity and flatter trajectory bottleneck rifle cartridges is not permitted due to safety and topography concerns. The energy of the .400 Legend round is comparable to the established .450 Bushmaster, but provides less recoil. Just like the .350 Legend, the .400 Legend’s overall case size is short enough to work within the confines and dimensions of AR-15-pattern firearms, making it ideal for owners of one of America's most-popular firearms.
