The Springfield Armory Hellcat pistol breaks new ground in the micro-compact 9 mm market. Packing 12 or more rounds of 9 mm into a slim, easy to conceal package, it is effortlessly useful as an everyday carry defensive pistol.

The popularity of the Hellcat has spurred the growth of aftermarket accessories and upgrades to improve your shooting experience at the range or make the gun more effective as a personal defensive pistol. From swapping out the sights to adding a red dot to expanding the capacity of the magazines, the options are almost limitless.

Now Apex Tactical Specialties is expanding their aftermarket upgrade options for the Springfield Armory Hellcat by adding an Apex Threaded Barrel that is specifically designed for this pistol. Designed to replace the factory 3-inch barrel, the Apex 9 mm Threaded Barrel is machined from a premium cold hammer forged blank and then black Melonite finished. The barrel is a direct drop-in replacement for the standard Hellcat barrel and requires no machining or fitting for use.

The twist rate is 1:10 inches for improved accuracy performance. The thread pattern is 1/2–28, allowing you to add the suppressor or muzzle device of your choice. Each barrel comes with a thread protector with a captive o-ring if you choose not to add a muzzle device.

Apex Threaded Barrel Features

  • For 9 mm Hellcat pistols

  • Cold-hammer-forged stainless steel
  • Black Melonite finish

Apex Tactical makes other upgrades for the Hellcat in addition to the Apex Threaded Barrel for the Springfield Armory Hellcat, including the Action Enhancement Trigger, the Failure Resistant Extractor and replacement Frame Pin Kit.

Review: Tisas PX-9 GEN3 Duty

It’s said that in life, one never gets a second chance to create a first impression. SDS Imports, the company that imports the Tisas firearms manufactured in Turkey, appears to have embraced that piece of wisdom, because I was extremely impressed from the moment I opened the box containing its new PX-9 GEN3 Duty 9 mm semi-automatic pistol. Except for some ammo, the box contained everything you need to defend yourself and your loved ones.

Review: Smith & Wesson Shield Plus In 30 Super Carry

Before we dive headfirst into the morass that is the 30 Super Carry debate, let’s start with something (slightly) less controversial: Smith & Wesson’s Shield Plus is a supremely good pistol. Building on the success of the standard Shield and updated M2.0 versions, the Shield Plus kept critical dimensions similar to allow most gear designed for the Shield to work for the Shield Plus.
