One hundred percent of money raised on the Faxon Firearms page will go to help victims of Hurricane Harvey and each donor’s name will be entered in a drawing for a custom ARAK-21. Two charities dedicated to helping after disasters will receive the proceeds—the Disabled American Veterans Disaster Relief Fund and the Matthew 25 Ministries Relief Fund.

The hurricane’s record-setting rainfall—27 trillion gallons— flooded 28,000 square miles in and around Houston, TX. That’s roughly the size of Lake Michigan, according to one American Red Cross official. It forced more than 40,000 people into shelters and 364,000 have already registered for help from the Federal Emergency Management Administration.

The water supply went down in Beaumont, TX, a city of 120,000. The death toll currently stands at 63, and may climb as the water recedes. More than 10,000 were rescued.

It’s a great cause and Faxon has stepped up to award someone an awesome firearm for their generosity.

The ARAK-21 combines features of the AK-47 and AR-15, although when Gary Paul Johnston  handled the gun he wrote, “I was seeing more [AR-15] than AK-47…”  How well does it perform? He ends his extensive review for Shooting Illustrated with, “The Stoner 63 has been largely forgotten for one reason; it was never sold commercially, and Robinson Armament’s M96 rifle based on it had a relatively short run. The ARAK-21, however, is here to stay, and it contains so many advanced features that it could have been called the ‘StonAR.’”

The Matthew 25 Ministries had a fleet of specialized vehicles on the scene of Hurricane Harvey on Aug. 29, 2017, with personal care items, cleaning gear, diapers, paper products, first-aid kits and more. The American Veterans Disaster Relief, “…supports veterans, service members, surviving spouses and their families during times of great need in the aftermath of isolated/specific disasters,” according to its website.

MIM Myths

Metal-injection molding (MIM) creates complex, durable and reliable metal parts in things we use daily. Its ability to churn out high volumes at reduced cost endeared it to the firearm industry decades ago. Despite that fact, gun companies we asked about the process were tight lipped.
