Taking advantage of the recent consumer interest in personal-protection and home-defense tools, Remington has launched a new line of ammunition targeting that market. Instead of trying to design a new bullet or ammunition, the company went with a tried-and-true performer in its Golden Saber bullet. The Golden Saber uses a bullet jacket made from cartridge brass, which is a mix of 70 percent copper and 30 percent zinc. This is a softer material than gilding metal and has higher yield strength. Golden Saber bullets were specifically designed using the results of cloth-covered gelatin testing, not bare gelatin, because few bad guys run around in their birthday suits. The latest incarnation of Golden Saber bullets have spiral cut serrations and perform very well even after penetrating intermediate barriers. This load rivals the famous 230-grain Hydra-Shok for actual performance on the street and offers deep penetration.
